Step 1:

Confirm the shipment

Connect with your buyer to confirm the quantity, price, destination, shipping method, and any other details.

Local pick-up or drop-off options may also be available depending on your location, so be sure to ask.

Step 2:

Cut the cat down (optional)

To make the catalytic converter more affordable to ship, cut it down to a smaller size using a reciprocating saw or angle grinder.

→ Don’t damage the code

Be careful not to damage or cut off any of the components, such as the shield or pipe that contain the code. The code is often required for verification and full payout.

→ Don’t remove the material

It’s important to keep the entire catalytic converter intact, including the material inside. Removing, altering, or damaging the contents will make it difficult or impossible to verify the part, which will lower your payout.

Step 3:

Stuff the pipe ends (optional)

To prevent the precious contents from falling out during shipping, stuff some paper, foam, or rags into the ends of the catalytic converter.

Step 4:

Put in a box & add fill

Place the cats into a heavy cardboard box. Add crumpled paper or other fill materials around the part to prevent it from moving around during shipping.

Step 5:

Lots of tape

Use a good quality tape, such as heavy-duty packing tape, and apply it in multiple layers to provide extra strength and security to the box.

Step 6:

Attach a label

Tape the shipping label to the box. You may be creating this label yourself or it could be provided to you by the buyer. Check out your buyers information page to view their shipping terms & offers.

Step 7:

Ship the package

When you’re done packing the catalytic converters, you can either take it to a drop-off location or schedule a pickup with the shipping company.

Bulk shipments

For larger shipments, you will need to utilize a gaylord box. Place the gaylord box on a standard sized pallet, and then add a base of flattened cardboard inside it on the very bottom. This base will help keep any small converters from falling through the pallet.

Cut down the catalytic converters to an easy shipping size (being careful not to damage or remove the code) and put them inside the box.

Once the box is full, wrap the top with shrink wrap and label the side of the box with any required information, such as the reference/quote number and both seller and buyer information.

Then contact the buyer to schedule an LTL pick-up or dock drop-off. It’s important to note that the truck will likely not have a lift gate, so you’ll need to have a forklift on hand to load the box onto the truck.

Your buyer may cover some or all of the LTL freight expenses for you. Check out your buyers information page to view their shipping terms & offers.
